Creatine can Boost Memory & Intelligence
Research has shown that Creatine can boost memory &
intelligence - Creatine in its various forms ( Monohydrate/Ethyl Ester/Kre-Alkalyn) has been shown to improve athletic performance
and could boost memory and
intelligence to according to new research.
Creatine is a natural compound found in muscle
tissue, and has been taken by athletes to improve their performance for several
years now.
However, research now shows that it has a role in maintaining energy levels to
the brain, and have perhaps improves mental performance too. Researchers from
the University of Sydney and Macquarie University, both in Australia, tested
this by giving Creatine Monohydrate supplements to 45 young adult volunteers.
Vegetarians were used for the tests. This is because meat in the diet is in
itself a source of Creatine , and measuring this would have been very difficult.
The group was split up and some given a placebo, and the
other Creatine Monohydrate over a 6 week period. A general IQ test and memory
test was done following this. The researchers, found that the Creatine
Monohydrate supplements - at least in the short term - seemed to have a positive
effect. Both tests were conducted under a time constraint, putting pressure on
the people involved.
"The results were clear with both our experimental groups and in both test
scenarios.
The group who took the Creatine Monohydrate had a
significant better set of results than those who did not.
It was concluded that the Creatine did improve mental
agility and memory function in certain areas.
